Washington requires a 30-day notice of appeal, the superior court filing fee, and a bond worth twice the judgment. Amount-based limits in RCW 12.40.120 block some appeals before the procedure begins.
Under Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 22-519, small claims decisions in Arizona are final and binding with no right of appeal. A pre-hearing transfer to justice court under § 22-504 is the only mechanism that preserves appellate review.
Only the defendant can appeal a Massachusetts small claims judgment, and only within 10 days of receiving the magistrate’s finding. The appeal is a trial de novo before a jury of six or a single justice, with a $25 entry fee and a $100 bond that can be waived for indigent defendants. Tenant security-deposit cases use a different bond formula.
